The 2013 Ford Mondeo Prototype Goes For A Drive
As one of the best selling cars of all time in the UK, the Ford Mondeo never fails to attract attention. Now though, the 2013 prototype has been spotted in test trim, and this is enough to send excitement levels off the charts. Granted it’s far too early to tell what the finished product will look like, but by the way the front end has been (poorly) covered up, there could be some impressive designs to come.
The saloon version was snapped back in September, and this was followed up by the estate in early October- almost as if Ford is tantalising the automotive paparazzi. Of course there’s also the possibility that both non-descript test mules are ingenious red herrings. No doubt many a petrol head is praying that some parts of the Evos concept car shown at the Frankfurt motor show will make an appearance in one form or another.
In terms of performance, Ford hasn’t released any official details as of yet, but it’s thought that the 2013 Mondeo will be powered by a series of new Eco Boost petrol engines ranging from 1.6 to 2.0 litres, some turbo diesels and even a hybrid power plant. Combining eco-friendliness with no lack of punch, there’s definitely more than one reason to ‘watch this space’.
While there’s still a lot of speculation surrounding the next generation of Ford’s flagship, one thing is for certain- it won’t disappoint. How can one say this with such certainty? Well because there has been a myriad of Mondeos over the years and none have let the quality standard slip. The design and performance potential, combined with the usability and functionality synonymous with the nameplate mean motorists will be counting down the days until the official unveiling.
I’ve learn some excellent stuff here. Certainly value bookmarking for revisiting.
